1 DIFFRACTIVE PROCESSES AS OBSERVED IN THE ZEUS EXPERIMENT ZEUS Collaboration Presented by G. Iacobucci Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, via Irnerio 46, I-40126 Bologna, Italy A new class of eventswith a large rapidity gap in the hadronic nal state has been observedby the ZEUSCollaboration in Deep Inelastic Scattering at the HERA collider. The general properties of these events are consistent with the di ractive dissociation of the virtual photon. Di ractive events are also observed in the tagged photoproduction sample.

Towards a Combined HERA Diffractive Deep Inelastic Scattering Measurement
Abstract The diffractive dissociation of virtual photons, γp → Xp, has been studied with the H1 and ZEUS detectors at HERA using various complementary techniques. Events have been selected by direct tagging of the outgoing proton or by requiring a large rapidity gap between the proton and the system X. The diffractive contribution has also been unfolded by decomposition of the inclusive hadroni...
متن کاملDiffractive PDFs and factorisation tests at HERA
The HERA collider at DESY (Hamburg) has provided Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) of electrons off protons in the years 1992-2007 for the H1 and ZEUS experiments with a centre of mass energy up to 318 GeV. Diffractive dissociation of photons in the reaction γ(∗) p → X p, constitute a large fraction (∼ 10%) of the visible cross section in deep inelastic scattering (DIS), and the process can be se...
متن کاملSTUDY OF D MESON PRODUCTION IN DIFFRACTIVE ep SCATTERING AT HERA
D production in the diffractive interactions was measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using integrated luminosities of 44 pb in deep inelastic scattering and 38 pb in photoproduction processes. Diffractive interactions were identified by a large gap in the rapidity distribution of final states. D mesons were reconstructed from the decay D → D0π s with D 0 → Kπ (+c.c.). Integrated and differe...
متن کاملRapidity Gaps in Hard Photoproduction
Recent results obtained from studies of diffractive processes in hard photoproduction performed by the ZEUS collaboration using data delivered by HERA in 1993 and 1994 are presented. In particular, we have found that (7 ± 3)% of events with two jets at a pseudorapidity interval of 3.5 to 4 are inconsistent with a non-diffractive production mechanism. These events may be interpreted as arising d...
متن کاملResults on Diffraction at Hera and Tevatron
Recent results on diffraction at HERA, from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations, and at Tevatron, from the CDF and D0 Collaborations, are reviewed. The measurement of the diffractive structure function at HERA is presented, and the pomeron structure function is extracted from QCD fits. Diffractive dijet production is given as an example analysis of the diffractive final state. These analysis are con...
